New Years Resolutions 2020: Sustainable Closet
Its not too late to incorporate a few quick and eco-friendly routines into your daily practice. In the spirit of building a more sustainable future we're sharing some simple tricks and tips to enhance your wardrobe. Our intention is to form a deeper relationship with the things we wear and how we value them.
1. Buy Less and Buy Higher Quality
Shop smart and support brands with ethos that you agree with. When you purchase something new be mindful of the materials and always check the construction
2. Wear More, Wash Less
Our society tells us that we have to wash a garment after every use, but thats not always the case. Use your senses to check if a piece is really in need. Hand wash your garments to prolong their life and conserve water whenever possible.
3. Wash All Microfibers Responsibly
Micro plastic runoff is a huge environmental issue that can easily be avoided by using a Guppyfriend Wash Bag for any items containing synthetic fibers. Check the fiber content of your clothing to identify items that shed micro plastics
4. Choose Natural or Low Impact Dyes
Support brands using environmentally friendly dye practices (like us <3) to protect our waterways and preserve more h2o.
5. Repair and Take Care
Being mindful of how your garments, accessories and shoes are wearing is an important practice to extending their life and a beautiful way to form a relationship with the things you own. Polish your shoes, cut loose threads, repair damages or outsource help. Everything you own should be treated with love and respect. Trust us, it feels GOOD.
